Creating course content by way of Build Content > Blank Page or Build Content > Item allows a course instructor to create a course content page using Blackboard's text editor (think MS Word). Bypassing the Course Files, and creating course content pages using Build Content > Blank Page or Build Content > Item is a quick, easy, and convenient way for course instructor's to update
existing course content or post new content.
However, when you create course content pages using Blackboard's text editor, the course content will NOT be stored in your Course Files. Therefore, if you delete course content that you have created using Build Content > Blank Page or Build Content > Item, it is gone forever.
There is a solution for you! Keep the convenience of bypassing Course Files, while being
secure that your valuable course content pages are not accidentally deleted by
creating a hidden Learning Module called "Recycle Bin". Since the
Learning Module will be hidden, students cannot see the contents. Therefore,
you can move any course content that you create using Build Content > Blank Page or Build Content > Item to the
"Recycle Bin" when you no longer need the course content.
Moving course content to the "Recycle Bin", rather than deleting the content altogether, gives you a final opportunity to “rescue” the course content, by
moving it to one of your weekly Learning Modules, the same way your
computer's Recycle Bin gives you one final place to rescue your files
prior to deleting the files forever.
